Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge
The Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge is considered to be one of th e
richest
sites on the continent for bird watching. In addition to that, Caño
Negro is also home to many exiting animals such as sloths, three
types of monkeys, caimans, lizards, bats and a great variety of
flora native to the wetlands.
The tour leaves from La Fortuna and travels to Los Chiles, a rustic
village just
five kilometers from the Nicaraguan border. It’s here that we begin
our boat ride in the
wetlands. Throughout the tour, our professional and knowledgeable
guide will point
out and identify many of the crops plants, and animals native to
this region, and
provide information about the people indigenous to this part of
Costa Rica.
